Ever wondered what the markings on PCL Couplings mean? Here’s your quick guide!
If you’ve ever looked closely at a PCL coupling and wondered what the markings on it signify, you're not alone! You're not alone! It's one of our frequently asked questions, so we've created this quick guide to break it down for you.
PCL Logo
Every PCL coupling has the PCL logo engraved on it, ensuring that you have an authentic, high-quality product. When you see the PCL logo, you can trust that the coupling meets our exacting standards.
Part Number Prefix
Every PCL coupling features a part number prefix that starts with "AC" or "SC" followed by two numbers. This prefix is part of our system to easily identify and categorise the various couplings we manufacture. It helps you understand exactly what you’re working with.
Series Name
Following the "AC" OR "SC" prefix, you’ll find the series name, such as Airflow, which indicates the specific product range the coupling belongs to. Below is a table with some series names and their corresponding prefix options.
Part Number Prefix | Series |
AC21 | Airflow Coupling |
AC91 | Vertex Coupling |
AC71 | XF-Euro Coupling |
SC21 | Safeflow Safety Coupling |
Country of Origin
The marking "Made in England" on every PCL coupling confirms that it was produced at our advanced manufacturing facility in Sheffield, UK. We’re proud of our heritage and continue to produce couplings with precision and reliability, rooted in British engineering excellence.

Manufacturing Year
Introduced in 2020, the manufacturing year marking allows you to identify the year your coupling was made. For example, "22" represents 2022. This marking ties into our commitment to quality, especially since we introduced a 5-year warranty from that year onward for our Blue Band Couplings. It’s our way of ensuring long-term confidence in your purchase.
Manufacturing Quarter
Along with the year, you’ll also see a marking that tells you the manufacturing quarter. This helps you know exactly when the coupling was produced within the year:
Quarter | Months |
Q1 | January - March |
Q2 | April - June |
Q3 | July - September |
Q4 | October - December |
With these markings, you can be confident in the authenticity, quality, and manufacturing details of your PCL coupling. Whether you’re checking the year of production or simply verifying its origin, these markings help ensure you’re using a genuine product built to last.
